It has been a few days since I posted last and decided to stop slacking and get to it. I spent 5 days in Rockford and only posted twice... NOT GOOD. I promised myself I would write everyday and just because I'm on vacation doesn't mean I should be a slacker. So I'm writing today about the last 3 days of my life.
Monday ohh Monday what did I do??? Well first off I got an amazing call from the greatest hubby in the world and, then got to talk to him off and on all day it was very nice. I mostly just say around my uncle's house just relaxing and watching TV. Rockford was a totally different environment then Springfield so I was able to just relax and not be completely stressed out the whole time...Other than that I really didn't do a whole lot other than talk to Jack!!!!!
Tuesday was a very good day. I woke up very early. Not really sure why but I did. I cleaned up the living room and did some laundry and took care of Abbie. My Uncle Tony wanted to go to the mall so we did. We walked around for a little but and stopped at Barnes & Noble to get myself a book. Well I bought a book and Abbie got a book and I became a member :) So now discounts for me :) YAY. We left the mall and then went to the NICEST Dairy Queen I have ever been in. It was basically like a fancy restaurant. It was crazy. Abbie Tony and I just say there and talked and hung out and just relaxed. It was just a really good afternoon. Then we went back to the house and I got to talk to Jack on webcam all night :) I was soo excited and happy to finally get to talk to him and see him after 2 weeks of NOTHING. It was very refreshing and a great reassurance that things were going to be OK and that the deployment was on the downward slop and almost over. Later that night my Uncle Joe came over and we all just talked to Jack on web cam, Tuesday was a very good night and a great way to end the last day of vacation. We watched some movies and headed to bed.
Wednesday night was VERY interesting... But before the night I'll tell ya a little bit about my day. I woke up at 8am and got all of my stuff packed and ready to go because we were suppose to leave at 3pm. So I gave Abbie a bath, finished packing the bags, and took a shower myself. Well Tony and Tinia were gone so Abbie and I had the house to ourselves. It was VERY relaxing and quiet... something I NEVER get in Springfield. I really didn't want to leave. It was DRAMA FREE, STALKER FREE, NO BITCHING, AND LIFE WAS JUST SIMPLE... I loved it. Well around 2:30 Tinia came home and asked if I wanted to go get a drink at the VFW with my Uncle because there was an ice storm coming in and we were not leaving at least not til it was passed. So I went down and had 4 drinks with my Uncle. I was very happy at this point but not drunk. I have come to terms with the fact I don't need to get drunk when I go out. I can just have a couple of drinks and be happy and have a good time. I never thought I would be sitting at a bar with my Uncle though... It was rather interesting. Well at 4:30pm we decided to call Tinia and have her pick us up. So we left and went back to their house. We has some soup and watched some TV. Well at 6:30pm the weather had calmed down and Tinia decided she wanted to leave because she needed to work today so we packed the rest of the car and hit the road at 7pm. Well we were driving for about 10 mins when instead of staying behind the semi Tinia decided to pass and well lets just say that did NOT go over very well... we were in my SUV which in turn hit the air pocket between us and the semi and then we hit a patch of black ice... well lets just say I thought I was going to die because we were in the left lane and I was in the passenger seat and closest to the Semi... Well Tinia is a pretty good driver and instead of killing us turned the wheels the right way and ended up in the ditch in the middle of the highway... we were stuck in ICE AND SNOW... NOT good at all... At least no one was hurt and there was no damage to the car!! Well we weren't as lucky as we could have been. We were completely stuck and couldn't get out of the middle... Well me being the stubborn one and refusing to call for help decided that I would push the car and see how well that worked. Well I had on Birkenstock clogs and was in about 6 inches of snow... We are only an hour south of Chicago so they have A LOT of snow up there... I got the car pushed pretty far but we were still stuck. I pushed and pushed for about 20mins. Finally a cop shows up. Well he didn't really do much other than get the traffic to go in one lane so we could get out of the middle... Well I gave it the last push and 25mins later we were finally out. My feet were freezing, my back was throbbing, and I couldn't stop shaking because it was so cold. Well we were headed the wrong direction now so we had to turn around at the closest gas station. Well Tinia didn't want to drive anymore because she wasn't used to the car so I drove the rest of the 180miles we had to go. We drove 30miles an hour for almost 3 hours and then finally hit 65 when we were 40 miles outside of Springfield. It was the worst drive of my life and I will NEVER drive in the ICE again... We finally made it home at midnight. Lets just say my Wednesday was a night I'll never forget... Besides that we are just taking things one day at a time.
